Home Fashion Retail

We've been experiencing an economic downfall for quite sometime now and people just don't have the money to spend on things that they desire.  With the price of goods increasing, it is the smartest thing for the family as a whole to conserve money.  During this time, more than likely, people are not looking to move out into new homes.  Unless of course, for a better job, or downsizing to have enough to spend.  If people remain in their original house, then home furnishings are not needed and should have already been taken care of since moving in.  Families may feel like the need for decoration and home fashion is the last thing they want added onto their credit debt.  Just like the all of us, we need to save the money for more important things.

Changes in Apparel Retailing

Over the past few years, vintage has held time within its own hands.  Several trends that have swept teenagers and stars all around the U.S. has been spotted at one time or the other styling looks from different decades.  Large bohemian style glasses was sported on Nicole Richie several times.  High waisted shorts, jeans, and skirts have been a popular summer-wear.  Not to mention my favorite vintage look, belts that wrap around your waist.  Apparel had subtle changes in the fashion industry,  designers look to past successes at randomness to include in their line.  I think its pure genius.  Mostly because the trend succeed with a wide range of ages.  The classic apparel that maintains a must have to every female should be pumps.  It makes any look complete and casual and over the past years, the only thing that seem to change about these shoes are the color.  The effect that it has on the over all look though, still remain the same.  Little, I have noticed about men clothing have changed.  Come to think of it, I can't seem to come up with one change.  Come to conclusion, we should be seeing several repeats in trend, at least in the next year coming.

Usability/Art

I believe fashion is the fusion of art and usability.  At one point or the other it has to be worn by someone right?  When art is referred to in fashion, it is usually a physical description of the outfit.  All that are considered could be the style, color, structure, or even something attached that makes the fashion unique.  On the other hand, the usability of fashion depends on the occasion that it would be worn in.  The right usability is one that the outfit will stand out in a positive way rather than making the wearer look ludacris.

In the Milan fashion show, the designers toned down the art in the clothes.  To everyone's surprise, the style is quite wearable.  Known to be one of the most creative in exaggerating the art of fashion,  Milan, still compromises a good deal of art by using odd structures with the flexibility of the fabrics.  Though it's a disappointment to my imagination, I fell in love with the colors used in Milan this year.  Very subtle, sheer, and elegant.

CRS blog 5

Just for you all to know, this is my first time sketching a design, don't be too harsh!  I got inspired by my own body and noticing all my flaws allow myself to enhance my good qualities and hide the bad ones.  In the design that follow, the top I imagine, would be persian blue.  The scarf would be white silk to bring out the blue top.  The layering of the top gives texture to the simple design, it should hug the waist and extend outward at the bottom, giving the person nice curves.  Dark skinny jeans should be worn with the top, to maintain structure and keeping the person slim.

Walking Art

It's fun to watch models strut designer's latest fashion on runway.  The clothes are fabulous, creative, and odd... as in different.  One may think, where would anyone where such clothes to any event other than a fashion show.  I couldn't agree any less.  Designers these days aren't modest with their creativity.  Their imagination comes to life on stage and awe the audiences with stunning outfits.  The point of these fashion show is to not make people look like idiots on the streets with queer outfits but rather express the unique styles of each individual designer.  I applaud the fashion industry for producing, what i call, the "walking art!"
My favorite designer brilliantly brings together vintage colors to create a bohemian design that can survive the modern world.  Nanette Lepore incorporates just the right color with the right style for me.  Going shopping is hard enough finding the right design let alone finding the right color.  Her collection makes it easy to fall in love with the right style and color for the perfect outfit which makes me love it even more.
